MLK Day Gleaning with CROS Ministries

Our team spent the morning harvesting peppers at the farm that were distributed to local food programs later that day.

What is Gleaning?

Gleaning is a produce recovery program partnering with local farmers to recover food that would otherwise go to waste and distribute them through hot meal programs like The Caring Kitchen. These programs increase access to and availability of nutritious food for families and individuals who are out of food, unemployed, or when their wages, disability, and social security payments are insufficient to keep up with the increasing costs of inflation.

CROS Ministries mission is to serve the hungry in Palm Beach and Martin Counties through community collaborations. They use the talents of an incredible volunteer force such as S&S Society to help families and individuals from falling into the downward spiral of poverty, food insecurity, and, in many cases, homelessness.
